The canvas that goes into MOST of our historic tents, both military and civilian,
is a 2 ply 100% cotton army duck. In an army duck the yarns are twisted before being woven into the canvas. The result
is a tighter weave and increased strength. It is treated to be flame retardant, water repellent and mildew resistant
with a shrinkage factor of approximately 7%.
This canvas is very white and holds its color extremely well. The flame retardancy is just that, a RETARDANT! There's no such thing as a FLAME-PROOF tent. This canvas meets California Fire Marshal's Code CPAI-84; the standard by which flame retardant treatments are measured. Check with your Attorney General's office for flame retardancy requirements on tents in your state. If a different canvas is used it will be noted in the description of that tent. |

All military wedges come with hand-worked button holes in the peak and rolled canvas peg loops, except the American Civil War tents, which have brass grommets for pegs and also at the peak. We have discontinued these because of lack of sales and I'm tired of updating prices for nothing. |

You can also add the optional 33" high wall to increase the headroom. Sibleys with walls need extra ropes and stakes, but no extra poles. It is also offered in a scaled down 2/3 size version. These tents are made on order and can take up to 6 weeks for U.S. delivery.

Flys for these tents come with brass grommets along the side edges and a grommet at the midway point along each end. Of course all grommet positions are well reinforced. The lengths of these tents and flys are variable because they're made from several canvas panels. Because canvas panels vary in width between lots the lengths of the tentage above may differ one way or the other a couple of inches. These tents are made on order and can take up to 6 weeks for U.S. delivery.

Sod Cloth (adds to price) - The sod cloth is a 9" - 10" strip of fabric sewn to the base of the lean-to at each side and along the back wall. The sod cloth helps in closing gaps on uneven ground and working with ground cloths for weather proofing your lean-to. We offer a Privacy Curtain System (sold separately) that is the best around! Our maker developed the idea of sewing privacy curtains to the front side edge instead of up and under the flap seam. This enables you to seal off the front corners of your tent from wind and rain. It also gives you the flexibility to arrange your tent in several different ways.
Adding a Front Curtain - By adding a front curtain to the end of your flap you can, in conjunction with your privacy curtains, completely wall off the area under the front flap for storage and privacy. This set-up will NOT provide you with good additional living space because you'll still have gaps along the top edge, and the roof will be too flat to shed water effectively. We have two sizes of ground cloth (sold separately) for the baker lean-tos. They're available in both our "Regular Ground Cloth" and the "Super Ground Cloth". The regular ground cloth is made of 10 oz. waterproof mildew resistant canvas (NOT Fire Retardant). it has a 5% shrinkage factor. The "Super Ground Cloth" has a bottom of rip resistant woven polyethylene to seal out ground moisture and protect the canvas top layer. You do not need to put a layer of plastic or other material under the "Super Ground Cloth" to seal out moisture. (NOT Fire Retardant) We have discontinued these because of lack of sales and I'm tired of updating prices for nothing. |
