State of New York Enlisted and NCOs Shell Jacket (Union)      The State of New York Uniform Board choose to issue New York troops a special uniform rather than the standard US Government issue clothing. The result was a very distinct looking jacket in two versions. The "New York State Militia Uniform Shelljacket" was issued to many New York troops. It has shoulder tabs trimmed in branch of service color, and one belt loop on the left side.     The jacket is lined with Brown cotton, the sleeves are lined with natural cotton. Imported New York State seal buttons are supplied. Our jacket is available in either the 8 button style (as shown in photos), or a 9 button version (specify at time of order). If the exterior slit pocket is ordered, it is located at the fifth button down, on either side you wish. Tube style sleeves without any trim are standard (as shown on Infantry version). An optional piped pointed cuff is available. Also the optional solid cuff "flash" (shown on Cavalry jacket) is available.     Branch trim on New York State Militia shell jackets: Artillery - Red or Infantry - Sky Blue. The backing is of the same wool as our uniforms are made from, so there is no noticeable color difference. They are available in two price levels for Artillery, Cavalry, Engineers and Infantry branches: cotton twill tape and worsted wool braid.     Chevrons are also available for Sky Blue Greatcoats and Veterans Reserve Corps Jackets. Reverse colors are used on Infantry Greatcoats  and Veterans Reserve Coats - Dark Blue stripes are placed on a Sky Blue wool background. NOTE: COTTON TWILL Chevrons are no longer a stock item and can take up 8 weeks for delivery. NOTE: Worsted Wool Chevrons are NORMALLY in stock, but if we are out of it can take up to 8 weeks for delivery. NOTE: Berdan Sharpshooters are available in Cotton Twill only.
