| Civil War troops also wore hat cords on their
hats to designate their Branch. They were more prevalent at the beginning of
the war as they became less popular as the war went on, although they remained
more popular than the hat brass. There were made of worsted wool. Our
reproductions are duplicates of the originals.

Our US NCO Chevrons (rank stripes) are made loose
and may be ordered by themselves. The backing is of the same wool as our
uniforms are made from, so there is no noticeable color difference. They are
available in two price levels for Artillery, Cavalry, Engineers and Infantry
branches: cotton twill tape and worsted wool braid.
Chevrons are also available for Sky Blue Greatcoats and Veterans Reserve Corps Jackets. Reverse colors are used on Infantry Greatcoats
and Veterans Reserve Coats - Dark Blue stripes are placed on a Sky Blue wool background.
NOTE: COTTON TWILL Chevrons are no longer a stock item and can take up 8 weeks for delivery.
NOTE: Worsted Wool Chevrons are NORMALLY in stock, but if we are out of it can take up to 8 weeks for delivery.
NOTE: Berdan Sharpshooters are available in Cotton Twill only.
NOTE: Ordnance Sergeant Chevrons are available in Crimson & Worsted Braid ONLY.

NCO Staff |
These are the brass shoulder scales used on some early war Union Army
uniforms. They were worn by units such as the Iron Brigade and others.
The Enlisted and NCO shoulder
scales are the same
except for the size. The NCO Staff shoulder scales adds the brass rivets.
The attachment set IS NOT included for the Enlisted, NCO and NCO
Staff shoulder scales, but is available separately.
The USMC (Marine
Corps) shoulder scales are the same as the Enlisted and NCO except that the are the largest
and have fringe plates to hold the fringe. The attachment set IS included
with the USMC shoulder scales, but the fringe IS NOT included. The
fringe is available separately.
NOTE: Except for the USMC shoulder scales, the ATTACHMENT SET is NOT INCLUDED with the shoulder scales
and is sold
separately.

These are the same brass buttons that come on our enlisted and NCO Civil War as well as our Indian Wars Uniforms. They are brass buttons with a wire loop
on the back. They come in three sizes:
Small for Cuffs, Vests, Enlisted Shelljackets and Greatcoat Capes 1/2",
Medium for Coats 3/4" and
Large for Coats 7/8".
