CS Officers have progressive rows of deluxe
gold braid on the top, sides, front and back of the cap to indicate rank.
A row of braid encircles the quatrefoil design on the top. Following the
1862 Confederate Regulations, the top and sides of the cap are in the
branch of service colors and the lower band is in dark blue. Other color
combinations can be made based on documentation. The standard braid
pattern is shown on the Captain's and General's Kepis. In addition to the
Deluxe Gold Soutache braid, we offer a Deluxe FLAT Gold braid at slightly
higher cost.
Corresponding rows of braid can be added
horizontally at the top of the band, as pictured on the both Lieutenant's,
the M1862 Senior Officer's and M1862 General's Kepis (adds $5.00 per row). Also, a leather binding can be
added to the edge of the brim (adds $5.00). CS caps omit the brass slide on
the adjustable chin strap that is seen on the Union caps.

The U.S. Officer's Slouch Hat was authorized for all officers
by regulation. This same hat was used by Confederate officers in both Black and Grey. This hat is
made of good quality Wool Felt. Officers slouch has ribbon hat band and a ribbon binding sewn
around the brim edge.
Fully Trimmed hat comes with Officers Embroidered Gold Bullion Branch
Insignia and Black & Gold Officer's Hat Cord (as shown at
top) for BOTH U.S. and C.S. (Confederate) officers. The only hat
insignia that is different for Confederate is the Staff emblem, all others
are the same for both U.S. and C.S.. Trim is supplied loose (not
attached).
Made-On-Order item, please allow 3 - 4 weeks (3 - 6 weeks

This is the embroidered insignia. It is Gold Bullion for
Civil War & Indian Wars. The small insignia (Cap) is for use on Kepi's and Forage Caps; while
the large insignia (Hat) is for use on Slouch Hats and Hardee Hats.

This is the Officer's Hat cord
for the Hardee hat and Slouch Hats. Regulations call for a Gold and Black
hat cord for all officer's except Generals who wear all gold, with the gold
being gold bullion. It was used for both the Civil War & Indian Wars. There is also a Non-Regulation Hat Cord of Gold Bullion and Branch Colors
available for Officer's of the Artillery, Cavalry and Infantry.
Staff and Field Officers, Regulation: Black Silk and Gold Bullion
hat cord. On some of these the acorn is reversed with a gold bullion tip and
black netting. This hat cord is available either in machine braided or hand
twisted. The hand twisted is thicker cording.
General Officers, Regulation: Gold Bullion hat cord for all
Generals.
Artillery, NON-Regulation: Red Silk and Gold Bullion hat
cord.
Cavalry, NON-Regulation: Yellow Silk and Gold Bullion hat
cord. This one looks very much like the Generals and you have to look close
to see that there is yellow silk and it is not all gold bullion.
Infantry, NON-Regulation: Light Blue Silk and Gold Bullion
