Fine quality reproduction of the M1902 Bell Crown Hat.
Dark blue wool with leather visor. This hat (untrimmed) can also be used as a Civil War and
Post Civil War Navy hat, as it is the same style as the non-regulation hat worn by some naval
officers (sometimes referred to as the pilots hat / cap).
Trimmed version is available in Artillery, Cavalry and Infantry
ONLY. The trimmed version comes with Cap Band, Branch Insignia, Leather Chin Strap, Buckle
and Eagle Side Buttons.
Artillery Cap: Band is of Scarlet Wool and comes with Original Crossed Cannons
Insignia.
Cavalry Cap: Band is of Yellow Wool and comes with No Insignia (plain, for
you to supply your own) OR with Reproduction Span-Am War Embroidered Eagle OR
with Reproduction Span-Am War Embroidered Crossed Saber Insignia for 1st, 9th or 10th Cavalry
only.
Infantry Cap: Band is of Light Blue Wool and comes with Original Crossed Rifles
Insignia.
Cap Band Only: The available cap bands are below the caps in the "Trimmed as" drop
down, they DO NOT come in sizes so ignore the "Size" dropdown.
This hat only comes in three sizes, but it can be stretched to SOME other sizes: 7 to 7-1/8,
7 1/4 to 7-3/8 and 7-1/2 to 7-5/8. This does require a hat stretcher and some time.
UNTRIMMED hat (NO chin strap or buckle, NO buttons, NO branch insignia and NO hat band.
Can also be ordered FULLY Trimmed (branch insignia, chin strap, chin strap buckle, buttons
and hat band) or you can order JUST the Hat Band.

This is the embroidered insignia. It is
Gold and Silver Bullion on a navy blue background. It is normally supplied loose (not attached to hat/cap),
but can be sewn on, when purchased WITH a hat or cap for an additional amount.

1861 Insignia: February 8, 1852
1862 Insignia: July 31, 1862.
1863 Insignia: May 23, 1862. Master's Mate Enlisted & Warrant
use same insignia.
1864 Insignia: January 28, 1864.
1865 Insignia: January 14, 1865. Vice Admiral is added for D. G. Farragut.
1866 Insignia: December 1, 1866.
