Used By: At various times this hat has been used by: Police Departments, Fire Departments, Railroad Conductors, the Army, the Navy, the Coast Guard, Lighthouse Keepers and probably others. Artillery and Infantry Trimmed: versions are for information only. We no longer have any of the Artillery or Infantry hat bands available. They were originals and there are no more. The Cavalry Hat Bands that we have are ones we had made when we ran out of Originals. When they are gone, we will not have any more made. Cap Band Only (Cavalry Only): The cavalry cap bands are below the caps in the "Trimmed as" drop down, they come as a strip that needs to be sewn together at the ends and then placed on the hat. They DO NOT come in sizes so ignore the "Size" dropdown. UNTRIMMED hat (NO chin strap or buckle, NO buttons, NO branch insignia and NO hat band. |

The Enlisted Cap: was worn plain, without any insignia. The Officer's Cap: was worn with the Officer's Embroidered Eagle Cap device (Insignia), as shown. The Eagle Cap Device IS NOT included with the cap, but can be add to your purchase for an additional amount. When purchased with the cap it is supplied loose, but can also be sewn on for an extra charge. Note: We currently do not have a supplier for this hat. If a new supplier becomes available in the future, we will offer it again at that time.

This is the embroidered insignia. It is Gold and Silver Bullion on a navy blue background. It is normally supplied loose (not attached to hat/cap), but can be sewn on, when purchased WITH a hat or cap for an additional amount. 1852 Insignia: March 8, 1852. 1852 Insignia: Sept 24, 1852 1861 Insignia: February 8, 1852 1862 Insignia: July 31, 1862. 1863 Insignia: May 23, 1862. Master's Mate Enlisted & Warrant use same insignia. 1864 Insignia: January 28, 1864. 1865 Insignia: January 14, 1865. Vice Admiral is added for D. G. Farragut. 1866 Insignia: December 1, 1866.
