Dog Tent / Shelter Half - Civil War
19th Century (1800s) Dog Tent, Military
Dog Tent / Shelter Half, Civil War
This is the standard tent carried by the soldiers during the American Civil War and Indian Wars. It takes two halves to make a complete wedge. Like the originals these button together along the ridge and are supported by 2 uprights (sticks, muskets with bayonets stuck in the ground or sabres) and a rope (or ridge pole).

It takes 8 tent stakes to set up a full dog tent (2 halves buttoned together.)

These are available in either 10.38 oz UNTREATED canvas duck or 10.38 oz Sunforger with flame retardant.

Wall Tents for Officers & Hospitals
Officer's Tent
Wall Tents for Officers & Hospitals
We have three styles of Civil War era wall tents to choose from. Each comes with one door w/overlap facing, rolled canvas peg loops and spur washer grommets at the peak ends and along the walls. Add $15.00 for a second door.

Flys for these tents come with brass grommets along the side edges and a grommet at the midway point along each end. Of course all grommet positions are well reinforced.

The lengths of these tents and flys are variable because they're made from several canvas panels. Because canvas panels vary in width between lots the lengths of the tentage above may differ one way or the other a couple of inches.

The Ships Candle Lantern comes as either a single candle lantern or double candle lantern (shown). It is made out of pierced tin with a rounded back and one glass pane in the front. It has an antique pewter finish. This lantern can be hung from above or hung on a wall. The single candle lantern is designed to use candles up to 6-1/2" tall, while the double candle version uses candles up to 8" tall. These are Large lanterns, especially the double candle lantern which is 19'' (over 1 1/2') high x 7-1/2'' (over 1/2') wide x 6-1/4'' (1/2') deep.

The Triangle Candle Lantern is an early style lantern with a pewter finish and a removable glass panel on each of the three sides. The top is removable, so that you can light the candle or replace a broken pane. It is designed to give plenty of light. There is a wire bale handle with a loop so that it can be hung up. It is designed to use candles up to 5" tall.

The Paul Revere Candle Lantern is made from pierced tin and has a pierced door. It does not have any class panels. This lantern will work well in a windy environment or for walking with. It has a pewter finish. There is a loop on the top so that it can be hung up.  Comes in two sizes Large 16" X 5 1/4" (up to 8" candle) and Small 11" x 4" (up to 6" candle).

The Personal Candle Lantern has a pewter finish and a removable glass panel on each of the four sides. There is a loop at the top so that it can be hung up. This lantern makes an excellent camp lantern. It is designed to use candles up to 6-1/2" tall.

The Square Candle Lantern is the basic square wooden lantern with a non removable glass panels on three sides and a door on the fourth side. There is a leather handle and it can be hung up with it. It is designed to use candles up to 8" tall.

The 18th Century Pocket Lantern is an authentic English Lantern in a box. The heavy gauge tin box measures about 5 1/4 x 3 x 1 1/4 when closed, so it's easy to pack along. When opened, the candle arm swivels out and the panel of semi-transparent mica closes over to form a sturdy triangular lantern. Designed for 3/8" x 4" candles.

The Traveler's Candle Holder come as a pair that screw together to make a compact travel item. When screwed together it looks somewhat like a donut. Sold brass 3.75" in diameter and 1.75" high when closed.

The Shelf Candle Holder is designed to have the ball and center sit on a shelf and the rest to hang out over the edge. Sold brass 12.5" long x 3.25" wide x 5" high. Dates from 1900 or somewhat before.

The Ship's 2 Candle Lantern is available in Starboard - Green or Port - Red. Rich red and green for port and starboard. Expertly aged. Mirrors reflect candles many times over. These lanterns can be hung from above or hung on a wall. These are Large lanterns, each is 18.5" (1 1/2') high x 14" (1' 2") wide x 6.75" (1/2') deep.

The Renaissance Stand and Lausanne Stand candle holders are made of Hand-Wrought Iron. Admittedly, candles are not the most modern of lighting, but they are the most romantic and nostalgic. That's why these antique originals are reproduced as candlelit. Some date back to the Renaissance, others to the 18th and 19th centuries. Hand-Wrought, made to last forever if lovingly cared for.

This Lantern Holder / Stand is 44" tall, after being set into the ground and is made of 1/2" steel stock. It DOES NOT come with lantern as shown, but can be used with any hang-able lantern on this page.

The Tin Candle Mold is a bright finish functional 6 or 8 tube mold for making 10" candles.

    Candles are available in 11/16" x 5 7/8" straight and 13/16" x 8" tapered (12" or higher lanterns).
