American Civil War Accouterments

    This item was used by both Union and Confederate foot troops (Infantry, Artillery, etc.) Waist belts for U.S. troops were black leather. Some Confederate troops had black leather belts, while others had them in russet leather.

    It is available as:
       Belt ONLY,
       Belt with Brass Keeper but NO BUCKLE,
       Belt with Buckle but NO brass Keeper
       or Belt with Buckle and Keeper.

    The belt plates (buckles) are also available separately. There are U.S. and C.S. stamped brass and lead filled, as well as some solid brass belt plates (buckles). These belt plates (buckles) have two prongs at one end and one prong at the other end. They are not made to work on modern belt blanks.

    NOTE: DO NOT order a belt buckle for Sabre & NCO/Officer Waist Belts for this belt, ONLY belt plates (which are in fact belt buckles) will work with this belt. If you want a waist belt with a Belt Buckle you need to order the "Waist Belt for Foot NCO's, Navy and Officers".

    This belt is also available with the Officer's Decorative/Fancy Stitching.

    Optional buckles include the M1851 U.S. Rectangular Buckle with Silver Wreath for U.S. NCO's or a choice of Confederate buckles for Confederate NCO's. If the buckle you want is not listed in the drop-down window, choose "OTHER BUCKLE" and then after adding the belt to your cart add the buckle you want to the cart. BE SURE to specify which buckle to use with this belt in the notes field if you purchase more than 1 buckle.

    NOTE: This belt uses the buckles for "Sabre & NCO/Officer Waist Belts" ONLY.

    Show as officer's plain version, with brass adjusting buckle on shoulder strap. The is also a fancy version with the brass adjusting buckle on shoulder strap and decorative stitching. Enlisted belts did not have a buckle on the shoulder strap.

    This is the Officer's dress sabre belt from pre-Civil War. It was still being worn by some officers well into the Civil War. It is made from black enameled leather, currently called patent leather. It includes 2 saber hangers and the shoulder strap which can all be removed; so that the belt can be worn as a dress waist belt. The hook to hold the saber up is attached to the front saber hanger, wo that it is removed when the sabre hangers are removed. The buckle for this belt is the standard officers rectangular buckle that has been gold washed or gold plated, currently we do not offer the plated or washed buckles.

    Shown with the Officer's belt buckle with nickel wreath. The shoulder strap is not shown. The shoulder strap was usually not used, even when the belt was used with the sabre, but we include it for those times it is wanted / needed.

    NOTE: Belts should be ordered by WAIST SIZE, not the size over clothing. Belts are made longer (usually 4'') to adjust for going over the coat. If you will NOT be wearing this belt over a coat, then order your belt 2 inches smaller than your waist size.

    Oak Leaf Gold Embroidery Dress Sabre Belt: This is the Non-Regulation Saber Belt for Officers. This belt DOES NOT use a buckle and DOES NOT come with one.

    NOTE: The Confederacy had regulations for a similar belt, with the following changes. The C.S. regulations called for a belt with silk in the branch of service color under the braid and the rows of braid to show the grade of the officer (i.e.: junior officer (1 row), company grade officer (2 rows), senior officer (3 rows) or general officer (4 rows). We do not currently offer the Confederate regulation belt, but you could wear the U.S. version as Non-Regulation C.S..

    This is the Regulation Sword Belt for Officers of the U.S. Navy, during the Civil War. It was used by both Union and Confederate Naval Officers. It is black leather and comes with the U.S. Navy Officers spoon buckle. This belt does not have a shoulder strap, like the mounted saber belts.

    NOTE: Belts should be ordered by WAIST SIZE, not the size over clothing. Belts are made longer (usually 4'') to adjust for going over the coat. If you will NOT be wearing this belt over a coat, then order your belt 2 inches smaller than your waist size.

    Black leather with brass finial. It has both belt loops and cartridge box sling loops and buckles on the back. Made in USA.

     U.S. one piece 72" long black leather belt with holes, to attach to the cartridge box buckles, at either end. This belt is smooth side out and rough side in. This item was used by both Union and Confederate troops in Black and Confederate troops in Russet.

     Standard pistol cartridge box for U.S. Civil War and early Indian Wars. It is used for the .44 Colts and Remingtons, as well as the .36 Colts for other than the Navy. It is available in Black for U.S. or C.S. and in Russet for C.S. use. It was used by mounted services and Officers, as they were the only ones authorized to use pistols.

    Black or Russet Leather with brass finial and belt loops on back. This is the standard Civil War carbine cartridge box.

      Indian Wars / Spanish American War Canteen (Style B) Hot dipped tin. Tan canvas cover with US stencil. Comes with cork, brass ring, and chain. Leather cavalry strap with snap.

      Indian Wars / Spanish American War Canteen (Style C) stainless steel canteed with pewter mouth. Comes with black leather strap with brass wire hooks, per regs. Handmade in U.S.. Available in 1873 Off-White or 1887 Tan canvas with U.S. marking on the canvas. Gray petersham lining, proper folded chain / loop / cork construction.

   The .36/.44 holsters will work with any Colt medium or small frame, or Remington 1858 in .44 or .36 cal. The Walker/Dragoon model holsters fit the Colt Walker and Dragoon pistols. The LeMatt model fits the LeMatt pistol. The Walker/Dragoon and LeMatt models are made on order, please allow 4 to 6 weeks for delivery.

   US Regulation: Made with full flap. Right side, butt forward, with sewn in toe plug.

   US Non Regulation: Same holster as above, except left side, butt forward.

   CS Model, Right Side: Full flap holster that come either US style Plug Bottom or Sewn Bottom. Closing tab and flap are one piece. Right side, butt forward.

   CS Model, Left Side: Same holster as CS Model Right Side, above, except left side, butt forward.

   Saddler Made Pommel Holster: This style is made with two regular hip holsters with a strap sewn between the holsters to fit over pommel of the saddle. Buckle straps near bottom of holsters to attach to breast strap.  These holsters fit 1858 Remington, Colt 1860 Army, and Colt 1851 Navy pistols. If we are out-of-stock on these the will be made on order, please allow 4 to 6 weeks for delivery in that case (call if you want us to check out stock).

   Officers Pommel Holsters: Officer’s Model Double Holster with (or without) Brass Caps. Made from a pattern in the Smithsonian Institute. These holsters can be made to fit 1849 Walkers; 1st, 2nd and 3rd model Colts, Dragoons and 1860 Army. The holsters have brass bottom caps, a cartridge pouch under each flap and are made to fit over the pommel of your saddle. They come complete with straps to secure them to the breast strap, and will last for many years. State type of pistol used in the comments field when you check out.     These are not high quality bugles. The are imported and functional, but not of modern musical instrument quality. All these bugles come complete with the mouthpiece.

    Infantry Bugle - U.S. Civil War: This is a two loop bugle used by the U.S. Infantry during the Civil War. It is 17" long, including the mouthpiece.

    Cavalry Bugle - U.S. Civil War: This is a two loop bugle used by the U.S. Cavalry during the Civil War. It is 11.5" long, including the mouthpiece.

    Bugle - C.S. Civil War: This is a single loop bugle used by the Confederacy during the Civil War. It is 11.25" long, including the mouthpiece.

    M1879 Trumpet / Bugle - U.S. Indian Wars: This is a two loop bugle with added crook used by the U.S. Cavalry during the Indian Wars, after 1879. It is 21.5" long, including the mouthpiece..
